Random 5 Friday Finds

Today's combination is Random 5 and Friday Finds. Random 5 because it's fun and Friday Finds because it feels like show and tell! And I'm all about the show tell!

1. My Gorilla Pod from Moby arrived. Remember when I posted about winning something because of this picture?  I love being able to wrap the bendy legs around stuff to hold my camera that is a phone steady so I can take a picture of a weed, like I did here with the Olloclip. Using the macro lens on the Olloclip can get a little frustrating especially since I cannot seem to hold the camera still! The actual clamp thing seems a little flimsy. I don't think it really grips the camera tight. When I have my case on it seems to grip a little tighter. But that's a minor detail! Get a Gorilla Pod!

2. Tuesday was Riley's last day of first grade. (sigh) I told her she cannot have any more birthdays and asked if she could go back to first grade next year. Second grade and 8 years old sound so growingupsofast to me. (sigh) Where did the time go?

3. Wednesday was my first day of full time grammy day care with 2 precious girls. By noon I was ready to guzzle a Big Gulp sized tequila.  It's gonna take a few days for the 3 of us to get into a new routine. We'll get there. (send tequila)

4. Sometimes you have ice cream for dinner. I'm just sayin'.

5. And finally, this is my Friday Find. I went to the farmers market and before I was swept away by the sight of a ferris wheel, (squirrel!) I saw these beauties! Aren't they lovely! Too bad they are somuchtroubletoclean!

Texture Tuesday Muse-for Kim

This week I'm sending a little summer and a lot of love to my friend Kim Klassen.

...

I had fun with this weeks textureization.  It was another one of those magical times where I didn't have to spend lots of time trying different things until something worked. Nope, it was fun and it was easy!

A little about the how the picture happened before the recipe.

I went to the farmers market on Saturday. It was later than I usually go. I have to admit the main reason I went was to take pictures. I had my DSLR and my camera that also makes calls. I wanted to try taking random street scenes pictures as I walked around the market.

As soon as I pulled in the parking lot I saw a ferris wheel. My eye was drawn to it as I walked around the market. I left the market without making a purchase and walked over to where the ferris wheel and a carnival was.

The place was deserted but not roped off and there was a few people walking around there. I took lots of pictures of the ferris wheel with my DSLR and camera that also makes calls. This one is from the DSLR. Click here to see the B&W version.

my recipe -

KK clarity -soft light

I had fun with this one!

Random 5 Friday-The Eve of Summer Edition

Random 5 Friday fun!

1. Most of the peach farmers in this area lost their entire crop for this year. There won't be many of the sweetest peaches that I look forward to every summer. I was lucky to find a peach stand on our trip to Fredericksburg. I initially wanted to buy a bushel but settled on 1/4 bushel. Happily we will have some peach ice cream and peach cobbler!

2. I have several samples of  books on my iPad. I really like being able to read a bit of the book before making the commitment to it. And the samples are free! If a book doesn't grab me in the first chapters, it probably will be a disappointment. After several failed attempts, I decided on The Obituary Writer. $12 to download! I have a problem with spending money on ebooks. At least if I buy a real book, I can take it to Half Price Books to sell when I am finished. What can I do with ebooks? So I looked for it at my local library. I had to reserve a copy since it was checked out but I got it in only a couple of days. I also finished reading it in only a couple of days. I enjoyed it and recommend it.

3. I have been slightly obsessed with black squirrels in my neighborhood ever since I discovered one a few years ago. Of course I always discover one playing dangerously close to the road. Since I live in a well populated neighborhood, no fewer than 2 of these little creatures have met their unfortunate demise. Happily I discovered this one. Number 3. Of course this one is also playing too close to the road. (sigh)

4. It's the last day of May! We are planning to take a trip to the Grand Canyon in a couple of weeks, the annual beach vacay with the famdamily is booked in July and a trip to Chicago is waiting for me in August! Bring on summer!

5. The day lilies are still going strong!
